Twin County Humane Society (TCHS) Bingo Fundraiser to be held March 8th, starting at 6 pm at the Crossroads Institute in Galax. Great prizes and a great cause to benefit! TCHS is a nonprofit charitable organization and membership in the society is a bargain! Donations are tax deductible. The cost for individual membership is $20 per year, $25 for family, pet guardian $50, business sponsor $100. Send your checks to Twin County Humane Society, Inc., P.O. Box 125, Hillsville, VA 24343. TCHS provides financial assistance to families who are not able to afford the entire cost to spay and neuter their pets, provides foster homes and arranges adoptions for homeless animals and animals with special medical needs, and works to promote animal welfare in Carroll and Grayson Counties and the City of Galax, The society reports that 500 pets were spayed/neutered in 2007. | ||

Citizen Kane is a 1941 classic American dramatic film, the first feature film directed by Orson Welles who also co-authored the screenplay. It was released by RKO Pictures. The story - often considered to be a veiled portrayal of the life of William Randolph Hearst - traces the life and career of Charles Foster Kane, a man whose career in the publishing world is born of idealistic social service, but gradually evolves into a ruthless pursuit of power. Narrated principally through flashbacks, the story is revealed through the research of a newspaper reporter seeking to solve the mystery of the newspaper magnate's dying word, "Rosebud".

Vocal auditions will be held for the musical Cats, Sunday, March 16
from 2-5:30pm and Monday, March 17 from 5:30-7:30pm at the Rex
Theater in Downtown Galax.
Ages needed are 16 to adult.
The Conservatory of Dance & Theatre in Galax, Virginia has been given
exclusive rights to perform "Cats" in the region for performances the
first two weekends in May in conjunction with the Galax Theatre Guild.
Vocalists should bring a CD, tape or sheet music for accompaniment. A
pianist will be available. Performance experience desired but not
required. Light refreshments will be served.
Volunteers are also needed for backstage help.

A four hour introduction to creating your own website content with Drupal. No prior web experience required. The Camp will be held at 115 1/2 W Grayson St, Galax VA 24333. The first camp resulted in the creation of two new websites, renewal of an existing website and extension of a fourth. To sign up you must have an http://LS.Net website account. If you do not have an account, there is a Create Account link on the left. Once logged in, click My Account in your personal Menu and complete the "Profile". This will permit us to escalate your privileges. If you want your own website you must complete a website registration by clicking "Create Content" and selecting "Website registration". Space is limited, preference will be given to prepaid attendees - click the Paypal link and send $35 noting the event and the date. The Twin County Humane Society will be holding a charity fundraiser art show at Bogeys Restaurant 103 Country Club Lane Galax, Virginia on Saturday, March 29 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Ten of the best artist from around the region will be present to showcase their original works of art for the event. Proceeds from the $10 door donation along with a percentage of all art sells will be donated to the Humane Society. Finger foods and beverages will be provided by Bogeys during the showing. The event is being sponsored by The City Gallery, The Twin County Arts Council and the Carroll County Office of Tourism and Bogeys Restaurant. The artists participating in the fundraiser are Jan Atkins of Mt. Airy, Lona Cox of Galax, Arlene Daniel of Winston-Salem, Becky Webb-Guynn of Galax, Paula Melton of Hillsville, Kathye Mendes of Independence, Penny Moseley of Hillsville, Todd Price of Elk Creek, Jeannette Roth of Hillsville and Karen Sewell of Willis. | ||

Jerusalem United Methodist Church is located in the Fallville community of Grayson County. It is one of the five churches of the Spring Valley Circuit of the Wytheville District of the Holston Conference. According to the sign posted on the church lawn, the church was established in 1838. On April 6, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., Jerusalem church family and friends will gather in their sanctuary on Jerusalem Road to celebrate their 170th anniversary. | ||
