Jerusalem United Methodist Church is located in the Fallville community of Grayson County. It is one of the five churches of the Spring Valley Circuit of the Wytheville District of the Holston Conference. According to the sign posted on the church lawn, the church was established in 1838. On April 6, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., Jerusalem church family and friends will gather in their sanctuary on Jerusalem Road to celebrate their 170th anniversary.

Alleghany Community Theatre’s next Readers Theatre will stage scenes from two versions of William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” Thursday, April 24th at 7 pm in the Alleghany County Library, 122 North Main Street in Sparta.
“What makes this show special,” said the show’s co-producer and ACT president Jim Williams, “is that the entire cast is made up of students from Alleghany High School and the Sparta Elementary School.” The production will consist of two parts. First, the high school students will read selected, significant scenes from Shakespeare’s original “Macbeth.” Then after the intermission, students from the Sparta Elementary School’s gifted and talented program will perform a short, modernized and humorous version of the play.
Dance and music connect cultures. Even when language is a barrier persons from all backgrounds can communicate with each other through music and dance. To promote better understanding of many cultures and to explore all the beautiful dances from around the world, Iara Kendrick, of the Moving Arts Center in Woodlawn, Virginia, is offering local residents the opportunity to form a dance company incorporating dances from all continents around the globe.

In celebration of their spring production of the dance musical CATS, the Conservatory of Dance & Theatre in Galax will accept donations of pet food and pet supplies at any performance with distribution going to local animal rescue groups.
CATS will be performed by the Conservatory in partnership with the Galax Theatre Guild on Saturday, May 3 (2pm),and Sunday May 4 (3pm) and Saturday and Sunday, May 10 (6pm) and May 11 (3pm) at the Rex Theater at 113 West Grayson Street in downtown Galax.
Admission is $10.00 adults, $5.00 children 13 and under. Advance tickets are on sale at the Conservatory, the Gardener’s Cottage, Chapters Bookshop and Purple Feet Wine, all in downtown Galax, also Lemon’s Jewelry in Independence and Court Street Coffee Company in Hillsville.
