Are you interested in homeschooling, but don’t know how to start? Do you have a lot questions? There will be a Home School Open House, this Saturday July 12 from 10am-3pm (floating)at the old Vaughan Memorial Library beside the new public library in Galax. Local home educators will be on hand to answer all your questions and provide you with resources, information and parent-to-parent support.
If you’re in North Carolina, come to our home school open house on Tuesday, July 22 from 4-6pm at the Sparta Public Library.

In 1997, U.S. Marines patrolling the Texas-Mexican border as part of the war on drugs
shot and killed Esequiel Hernández Jr. Mistaken for a drug runner, the 18 year old was,
in fact, a U.S. citizen tending his family's goats with a .22 rifle. He became the first
American killed by U.S. military forces on native soil since the 1970 Kent State shootings.
