I got a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Media Center Kit from microcenter.com over the holidays. I've heard a lot of buzz about Raspberry Pi and have been curious about ARM for years. I had an old keyboard, monitor and mouse around but the monitor had only VGA and Pi has HDMI so I used an HDMI to VGA adapter.
The included disk drive is a 16Gb microSDHC card with NOOBS installed. As promised (NOOBS stands for New Out Of the Box Software) brought up a menu and I installed Raspbian. Raspbian looks like Debian looks like Ubuntu so I was almost home.
I changed the default password, set up a static IP address, and enabled the SSH server. My friend from Germany was able to log in from his iPhone and look around. I installed Apache2 but may switch to NginX. The default web page show up at pi.ls.net.
Much to do. By default only one of the four cores is enabled, for example.
