Privacy Redefined

Recently we learned that forcing water into people's lungs was "simulated" drowning even though sometimes those "simulations" result in "real" deaths. We also learned that convincing someone they are about to drown was not torture - merely "aggressive interrogation".

Last week we learned "Privacy no longer can mean anonymity, Instead, it should mean that government and businesses properly safeguard people's private communications and financial information." (Donald Kerr). One way government and businesses are properly safeguarding your communications is described in the article -"America is Watching you". Now Congress is considering redefining "illegal" by granting retroactive immunity to the Telecoms which have been listening to your every digital word. I have been told by more than one telecom worker that the practice has been going on since 1995 (and even earlier according to one).

Of course, "truth" was redefined during the run up to the War in Iraq. Justice was redefined in Jena, Louisiana. And the American way is to support apartheid in the West Bank and Gaza, threaten to bomb Iran and to privatize disaster services for those who can afford it.

I take it personally and you should too. AT&T, the prime culprit in the telecom spying affair carried your mail and mine for years.
