Alleghany Community Theatre’s ACT Readers Theatre performance of “One Night: Two Acts” has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 28, in the Alleghany County Library, 122 North Main Street in Sparta. It had been cancelled because of the possibly of freezing rain last Thursday. The performance will be at 7:00 pm. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.

Directed by Jim Williams, this Readers Theatre production is actually two separate one-act plays, "All on Account of A Dog" written by Rebecca Saunders and "Not My Cup of Tea" written by A.F. Groff.

"All on Account of a Dog" is a light drama with a two-person cast featuring Bryanna Lindberg as ten-year-old Becky and Jim Williams as her father, John.  The story takes place in the front seat of an old car in 1950's North Carolina and focuses on John's dilemma of trying to explain to daughter Becky the recent rocky events of their family life. Bryanna Lindberg is a twelve-year-old home-schooled student. She has appeared in three other ACT productions: “Dairy Queen Days,”  “Inherit the Wind,” and “Anne of Green Gables.” Williams, this year’s ACT president, has appeared in several ACT productions including “Dairy Queen Days” and “Inherit the Wind” and also directed “Sunshine Boys.” Jim is retired from the US Air Force and lives just outside of Sparta, NC.

The second one-act play, "Not My Cup of Tea," is a dark comedy about two, late middle-aged, destitute spinsters trying to make ends meet while dealing with their elderly mother.  The cast features Amy Huysman as Jessica, Tori Lindberg as Emmie, and Pam Russell as their mother.

Amy Huysman is a newcomer to the Sparta area.  She made her acting debut with ACT in "Anne of Green Gables." Along with reading to her children, she loves to hike, cook, and take care of a menagerie of animals.

Tori Lindberg, mother of Bryanna Lindberg, is performing in her second ACT production. Her hobbies include raising children, cooking, folding laundry and sleeping. She and her family live in Galax, VA.

Pam Russell lives and works in Galax, VA. She has acted with both the Alleghany Community Theatre (ACT) and the Galax Community Theatre groups doing such shows as "Death and Taxes," "The Marquis Crossing Ladies Society's First Attempt at Murder," “Sunshine Boys,” and “Inherit the Wind.” Russell has worked doing remedial reading with kindergarten-third grade children, hosted a successful radio show and internet site called "Ask The Blonde," and done corporate web design.

ACT Readers Theatre productions are staged in the Alleghany County Library meeting room every other month and at the Historic 1908 Courthouse in Independence, VA. ACT Readers Theatre is organized in cooperation with the Alleghany County Library.
