Dance company interviews
Dance and music connect cultures. Even when language is a barrier persons from all backgrounds can communicate with each other through music and dance. To promote better understanding of many cultures and to explore all the beautiful dances from around the world, Iara Kendrick, of the Moving Arts Center in Woodlawn, Virginia, is offering local residents the opportunity to form a dance company incorporating dances from all continents around the globe.
Kendrick will teach weekly classes , and will also invite guest instructors to present workshops to enhance technique and choreography as well as teach basics of other dance styles for a broader repertoire. International Festivals are often seeking performers of dances from around the world, which are abundant in large cities, but not available in rural areas. Kendrick often performs at international festivals at the nearby universities and civic organizations.
An interview for joining this dance company will be held at Moving Arts Center on April 25 5:00-6:00pm, April 26 11:00am-12:00 pm and April 27 3:00-4:00 pm by appointment. Although some dance experience is helpful, a deep commitment to learn and practice is more important. Classes will be offered to teach the repertoire. Rehearsal schedule will be worked out for the best convenience of the members.
This dance and music company is open to men and women of all ages from 10years to senior citizens. Sponsors are also appreciated for dance scholarships, costumes, acquiring learning resources and future production costs. If you are a musician, a dancer, or someone who wishes to learn more about the beautiful variety of our world this is your opportunity to join a unique project. Contact Iara Kendrick at 276-236-4533 or samra40@netzero.net for more information or to schedule your interview.
