A model to compare the cost of elective vs. postabortion care.
We seek selection of a data model which provides for rapid deployment of an editor for competent data sets which can be fed to a general purpose reporting system. The leading contender for data model is HDF5 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDF5. The back up is NetCDF - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NetCDF. The data model must be interoperable with other analysis systems to permit repeatability by peer researchers.
Since the model will be freely available, licensing for all components must permit distribution without fee (GPL or comparable).
The data model must also interoperate between input/editing, calculation of summaries and distributions and reporting.
Finally, we must choose a development and runtime environment which accomodates all four components. For better or worse, that environment is Sun Java.
