J.O.B. Fund Purpose

The JOB FUND is a new financial resource designed to provide opportunities for deserving and qualified individuals in Alleghany County, North Carolina. Its purpose is to assist people in developing a vocational trade for self-employment. The JOB FUND will provide funds to buy basic tools for many skills and trades. Funding will be by loans, grants or possible a percentage of a loan necessary to learn a skill or begin a trade.
To qualify, a person must develop a work plan, be of good character and possess quality work habits. There will be no discrimination toward whomever meets these qualifications for Alleghany Citizens. The JOB FUND has been reviewed with local banks and they advise it is a needed fund, as most start up individuals will not qualify for a bank loan without assistance, this would fill the void.
Alleghany is moving toward resort development and tourism. Vocational opportunities for jobs are in demand for qualified individuals. The JOB FUND is a "win win" situation for our community as well as individual employment. Much like an athlete, if a motivated individual with sound work ethics is given the opportunity and proper training, in a supportive environment they too can achieve and become a star professional in their vocation and give back to their community.

Origination of JOB Fund

The Miles J.O.B. Fund was established by Donald W. Miles and Barbara M Miles by contributing $100,000.00 to help create jobs by the purpose stated above and for appreciation for the individual support we received from the people we do business with. This is our 50th year of doing business together. Any success we have achieved is relative to the good people in our area. Our contribution is seed money for the J.O.B. Fund and we believe it will grow with gifts from others, so that more people can be served.

I.R.S. Approves

The Miles J.O.B. Fund is approved for tax exempt status under section 501 (3) of the I.R.S. Code. Contributions to the Fund are qualified under the Code, to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts. The tax exempt status will be treated as a public charity.
